Grand Canyon

Posted By BrokenClaw on September 9, 2003

After four weeks of rigorous training, we made the two-day hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. NOT! Actually, we took the bus trip from Las Vegas to the South Rim. Our first stop was lunch at Max and Thelma’s buffet in Williams, Arizona.

Williams is the closest town on this side of the canyon, and apparently Max and Thelma’s is the only place to eat there. From our experience, I’m not going to recommend it. If you’re really interested, just do a web search on “Max and Thelma” and you’ll get some scathing reviews. From there we rode through Grand Canyon Village, and then made our stops at Bright Angel Lodge and trailhead, Yavapai Point, and the Canyon View Information Plaza at Mather Point. For those of you who have been to the Canyon, your own memories are more distinct than any description that I can give. For those of you who have never been to the Canyon, words and photos can only hint at its grandeur.
